Cuban President Raul Castro welcomed his Venezuelan counterpart, Hugo Chavez, who arrived in Havana on Sunday afternoon for a short visit.

According to Granma news daily, the main goal of this visit was expressed by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in his reflections “What is true and what is false”, published on Sunday by Juventud Rebelde news daily.

Chavez was accompanied by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro, Communications and Information Minister Andres Izarra, Agriculture Minister Elias Jaua Milano, the Minister of the President’s Office Hector Rodriguez and the Minister of the Basic Industry and Mining, Rodolfo Saenz.

Accompanying Raul Castro at the Jose Marti International airport were Cuban VP Carlos Lage, the Minister of Information and Communication, Ramiro Valdes, and the Minister of the Basic Industry, Yadira Garcia, as well as Bruno Rodriguez and Maria del Carmen Perez, deputy ministers of Foreign Relations and Agriculture, respectively.
