Salvadoran Vice President Ends Cuba Visit
Salvadoran Vice President Salvador Sanchez is concluding Monday his four-day visit to Cuba, in which he ratified his country's interest to deepen trade with this Caribbean island.

Salvadoran Vice President Salvador Sanchez is concluding Monday his four-day visit to Cuba, in which he ratified his country's interest to deepen trade with this Caribbean island. During his stay here, the Central American leader met with Cuban First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, who was interested in El Salvador's current recovery process after intensive rains.
Sanchez expressed gratitude for the sending to his country of a Cuban medical brigade comprised of 17 collaborators, to support the situation of disaster.
Both parties reviewed the state of bilateral relations and expressed the will of their respective governments for the expansion and strengthening of links, re-established at a diplomatic level this year.
After visiting the Latin American School of Medicine in this capital, the Salvadoran vice president praised the Cuban health model and prevention of catastrophes, to face a future reform of such sector in his nation.
"Health and education spheres are among President Mauricio Funes' main programs. His government also gives priority to the national reconstruction and the struggle against poverty," the visitor said.
El Salvador supported for a first time in 2009 the resolution the island's government presented at the United Nation against the US-imposed economic, trade and financial blockade almost 50 years ago.
