Union Congress to Support Cuban Updating Process

Delegates at the 20th Congress of the Cuban Workers Confederation (CTC) will discuss changes in the statutes of that union, aimed at backing the country economic and social updating, announced the event organizers in this capital today.

According to Carmen Lopez, vice president of the Organizing Commission of the Congress, the reforms to discuss are based on the CTC role as the workers representative in the adjustment process implemented in the country under the supervision of the Communist Party of Cuba.

Lopez also said that it is a responsibility of the Cuban Workers Confederation to fight all type of violation of law and ethics, corruption, and distortion of Cuban society ruling regulations, reports Granma daily.

The project under discussion also seeks the CTC improvement and the proposals came from the opinions made by Cuban organizations and entities.

According to the vice president of the Organizing Commission of the Congress, the possible changes to discuss include the renewal of the executive mandates and the financial fund of the confederation.
