“The bandits, the international gangsters would be inevitably defeated. Don’t forget that we are in a trench, and that trench has been attacked, that they are trying to mine that trench, that they are trying to introduce the weapons for the assassination plots here, the explosives for sabotage and for crime; so we have to be on guard, as it’s appropriate for the soldiers in the first trench in the world in the fight against Imperialism. ”

Eisenhower".
"And so, in the farewell to the people who have died today, to those soldiers, to those workers, I don’t have any other idea of saying good-bye than the idea which symbolizes this fight and represents what our people are today. Rest in peace together, workers and soldiers together, together in their tombs as they fought together, as they died together and as we are willing to die together "
The enemies never stop in their determination to destroy us. There are two conceptions: those of the elements of the extreme right in U.S politics, who dream about strangulating us through a more iron-fisted economic blockade, if that were possible, and wipe us off the surface of the earth by any means. They are those who promote laws like the Helms-Burton Act, well-known and analyzed by our people, and other draconian measures. They are those who want to destroy us from outside.
“Nearly 1 000 hours weekly are broadcast from the United States to Cuba, promoting subversion, sabotages to the economy, assassination plots. This modest person you see here, has the privilege –and I believe the Church has something to do in this matter—of having survived hundreds of assassination plots. I think that prayers by you, or prayers by many of you, have been present in that result; something has to be the reason, because, how else can it be possible? ”
“I can assure you that so many assassination plots have been prepared against us that I could give one to each of the people present here; I don’t want it by no means; but it explains a little the miracle of having me talking to you, because I should be in the hereafter according to the calculation of probabilities; however, I assure you that it won’t be hell. I won’t go into discussing beliefs, and I won’t go either to purgatory because we have already passed through a long purgatory for a long time. In heaven, for sure; but the fact is that we haven’t sought heaven for us.
“You know that the tactic, one of the favorite tactics of imperialism, is the assassination of revolutionary leaders. Therefore, we have to live aware of that, and do not give in to it, don’t pay it too much attention.”
“Everybody knows that dozens of assassination plots were organized, apart from the induced plans, because there are direct plans in which the CIA participated, and there are induced plans where an entire campaign was conducted, a advocacy that any crazy person opposed the Revolution, could commit assassination; however, plans that were directly organized by them, and the groups at their service, dozens and dozens of plans. Until a Commission from the U.S Congress carried out investigations and confirmed a number of all those plans. Then, it was not Cuba saying that.
“In fact, when they (terrorists) are organizing a lot of plans of such a nature, instead of being sad, I’m happy, because a challenge is what I love most. They know that I like challenges, they know that I’m not going to walk over there when they are here; I’m going to walk this side, as a matter of principles, a matter of honor. And many times, I’ll go there, close to them, and I talk to them, and discuss; but they don’t have arguments, they don’t have ideas to discuss, and many times, or nearly never or never, they have the courage to do things. ”
