Cuba received on Tuesday a donation of medical supplies from Italy to support the fight against Covid-19.
According to the national television news, the General Workers Central of that European country sent a load of protective equipment for health personnel, including disposable clothing, eyeglasses, and other biosecurity materials.
The Public Health authorities thanked Italy for donating 280 tons of material for medical use.
Sergio Vasoli, the Italian trade union organization representative, commented via Internet the interest in helping the island's health system and promoting this pact of solidarity at a difficult time at the international level, reported the newscast.
Recently, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed his gratitude for the help of countries and solidarity organizations, which came amid the Caribbean nation's efforts for its development in the face of the intensification of the U.S. blockade.
According to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, 135 donations from 40 countries arrived in Cuba last year, mainly medical supplies and equipment for immunization and the fight against Covid-19.
