The Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba rejoiced today for the bestowing of titles of Heroes of the Republic of Cuba and the Playa Giron Order to the Cuban Five.
In a statement released in this capital, the presidency of the association of friendship congratulates Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez for the decorations President Raul Castro put on their chests.
The document expresses the happy coincidence that the recognition to the Cuban Five, who complied with harsh and unjust sentences in U.S. jails, coincide in time with the 120th anniversary of the restarting of the Independence War in Cuba, led by Jose Marti.
The statement by the Colombian Movement of Solidarity, signed by its president Gabriel Obando, recalls that the insurgent Radio Rebelde station was also founded on February 24, 1958, by the then Commander Ernesto Che Guevara.
