Cuba Honors S.African Fatima Swart
The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba awarded South African friend Fatima Swart for her outstanding Cuba solidarity activism.

The Council of State of the Republic of Cuba awarded South African friend Fatima Swart for her outstanding Cuba solidarity activism.
After decorating Swart, Cuban ambassador to South Africa, Angel Villa, praised her work as leader of the Cuba-South Africa Friendship Association.
That organization has been actively fighting for eliminating the US blockade on Cuba and releasing five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly imprisoned in the United States for over 10 years.
Swart chairs the Cuban Five Committee advocating for the release of Rene Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramon Labañino, Gerardo Hernandez and Fernando Gonzalez.
The group is serving harsh sentences in the United States that range from 15 years to double life terms.
Their real crime was gathering information to thwart extremist actions against Cuba by counterrevolutionary bands in the US, and also to protect the lives of US citizens.
Along with Fatima Swart, another six South Africans have been awarded with the Friendship Medal in the last 10 years.
