India and Cuba showed on Thursday their willingness to strengthen collaboration in the agricultural sector and, in particular, in the exchanges among the agricultural research centers of both countries.

Cuban vice Minister of Agriculture Jose Puente and Indian State Minister for Agriculture, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution K.V. Kumar had a meeting where this decision was made.

During the meeting, Puente talked about the interest of the Ministry to know about the advances reached by the South Asian country in that sector.

Both officials also talked about other aspects of the bilateral relation, which are about to turn 50 years, and highlighted the common trajectory of India and Cuba as members of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Director of Foreign Affairs of the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture Maria Antonia Fernandez and Cuban ambassador in New Delhi Miguel Angel Ramirez also attended the meeting.

Puente and Fernandez represented Cuba in the Indian Latin American Conference on food security that concluded in this capital on Tuesday, where they presented the Cuban experience regarding agricultural collaboration with other countries as part of the South-South cooperation.
