The Havana City Historian, Eusebio Leal, reported today to senior management of United Nations on the progress of the social work that takes place in the historic center of Havana.
Leal, who is also UN Goodwill Ambassador visited the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday and held a courtesy meeting with the secretary general, Ban Ki-moon.
Leal met with Susana Malcorra, head of the Department of Field Support, to explain her the progress in the old historic center of Havana and its impact on the people who inhabit it.
Leal traveled to this city invited by the famous New York Public Library, where he gave a lecture last night to a full house.
The central theme of his speech was the progress of the restoration program implemented by the Historian Office in the historic center of Havana, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1982.
