Members of political and trade union organizations in solidarity with Cuba carried out a walk in southern Lebanon, to pay tribute to Che and demand the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States.

Members of political and trade union organizations in solidarity with Cuba carried out a walk in southern Lebanon, to pay tribute to Che and demand the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States.
The marchers also commemorated the death in combat of heroic guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara in Bolivia 45 years ago, and denounced the U.S. blockade against Cuba.
The march went through the Slouki Valley up to the Dubai Castle, a medieval fortress used as a base by the Lebanese resistance against the of southern Lebanese occupation by the Israeli army, led by Mohamed Hachicho, Politburo member of the Popular Democratic Party (PDP) and the Direction of the Lebanese Committee for the Release of the Five, known by its acronym L4C5.
Supporting Cuba is to support ourselves, because the cause of the five Cuban prisoners in the United States is part of the Palestinian and Arab prisoners in Israeli prisons, the PDP leader said.
Anwar Yassine, imprisoned for 17 years in Israeli prisons, said the banning of visits by the U.S. government to Adriana Perez, wife of Gerardo Hernandez and Olga Salanueva, spouse of Rene Gonzalez, is a violation of human rights.
Yuri Gonzalez, third secretary of the Cuban embassy in Lebanon, offered a detailed explanation on updating the Cuban economic model, and thanked the participants for their solidarity, who he described as an 'example of great things that the peoples can do even if they are small countries.'
Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Ramon Labañino were condemned to harsh prison sentences for informing Cuba on possible terrorist attacks by counterrevolutionary elements residing in south Florida.
Rene Gonzalez, who has already completed his prison term, was forced to remain on U.S. soil, implying a great risk to his life.
Demonstrators also declared their condemnation to the Washington-imposed economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba for over 50 years, despite 21 consecutive years in which the U.N. General Assembly argued against such punitive measures.
The economic damage to the Cuban people by the implementation of the blockade rises, until December 2011, $1.066 trillion dollars, considering the depreciation of the dollar against the value of gold in the international market, according to Cuban authorities.
