Cubans living in Trinidad and Tobago condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to their country, which they described as the main obstacle to its development.
According to a note published by Foreign Ministry in Cubaminrex.cu, during the annual review meeting of the Association of Cuban Residents in Trinidad and Tobago was adopted a statement denouncing the damage caused by the blockade imposed by Washington for more than half a century.
"The blockade has caused great hardship to the Cuban people, because it have been the main obstacle to economic and social development of our country," they said in the text concerning the measures that have caused losses of a 1.66 billion USD, considering the depreciation of the currency.
At the meeting, participants also demanded the return to Cuba of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino, Fernando González and René González, the five anti-terrorist convicted in the U.S. for monitoring groups that organized violent actions against the island in Miami.
Through the statement issued on Saturday, they also sent greetings to the Cuban people, which they defined as "an example of stoicism, courage, nobility, perseverance and solidarity."
