Symposium for 400 Years of Friendship Between Cuba and Japan
Academicians of Cuba and Japan are holding a Commemorative Scientific Symposium on molecular imaging in the study of the brain, as part of the celebrations in both countries for the 400 years of friendship between the two peoples.

Academicians of Cuba and Japan are holding a Commemorative Scientific Symposium on molecular imaging in the study of the brain, as part of the celebrations in both countries for the 400 years of friendship between the two peoples.
During this exchange of knowledge, at the National Hotel of Cuba, Dr. Fidel Castro-Diaz Balart, who serves as scientific advisor to the Council of State, gave a lecture entitled "Challenges of Science and Innovation for Development. The Cuban experience".
The lecturer explained that one of the most important applications of science,and one of the most urgent problems, is the study of the brain, which have been done in the last years greatly thanks to functional imaging based on high-tech equipment.
According to Diaz-Balart, the links between Japan and Cuba in this field will have a great impact on the health system and the knowledge and expertise of Cuban medicine, with the application of biotechnology, nanotechnology and other emerging technologies.
During the day, Cuban and Japanese scientists, along with Cuban diplomats accredited in Tokyo and their Japanese counterparts in Havana, payed a visit to the statue erected near the Havana Bay in memory of the first Japanese who visited Cuba 400 years ago, the samurai Hasekura Tsunenaga.
