The U.S. Reverend Jesse Jackson, called for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba for 52 years now, publishes today Chicago Sun-Times newspaper in its website.

The U.S. Reverend Jesse Jackson, called for an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States to Cuba for 52 years now, publishes today Chicago Sun-Times newspaper in its website.
The implacable opposition of the United States government to the presence of Cuba in the hemispheric meetings, has virtually offended all of our neighbors', emphasized Jackson, who recognized that this policy of strangulation against the Caribbean island has helped in Washington's isolation.
Jackson, a prominent activist for civil rights and baptist pastor who was a candidate for the Democratic presidential primary in 1984 and 1988, assured that the blockade against Cuba should had been lifted decades ago.
'The embargo (blockade) against Cuba has been maintained largely for two reasons. First (Fidel) Castro embarrassed the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the cold warriors, undermining their attempts to invade the island, destabilize the regime and assassinate him', pointed out the U.S. religious leader.
He also pointed the internal politics as another important reason to maintain the cruel measure, in particular through the links on the White House with the Cuban-american voters in the state of Florida.
