Deputy Foreign Minister, Nguyen Quoc Dung, described today as very positive the restoration of Cuba-US relations, whose most recent chapter was the reopening of the embassy in Havana.
We consider it a historic moment and we are glad it has been successfully achieved, Quoc told Prensa Latina, after concluding a ceremony heren occasion of the 190th anniversary of Uruguay's Declaration of Independence.
He also described as very important the new step between the two countries. This milestone has had and will have an impact, not only in Cuba and the United States, but also in Latin America and the world.
Referring to the blockade -still in force-, he recalled that Vietnam, as a friend of Cuba, has always been against that policy, which described as unfair.
About the relations of this country with those of the mentioned region, he said they are traditional friends, with a long history. Vietnam has given priority to cooperation with the area in general, and every year, it discovers more potential for development.
Those ties, particularly with Cuba, are very positive, special and unique, he said, after ensuring that they will continue expanding them.
