The President of the National Assembly (parliament) of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, asserted here today that with the death of Fidel Castro, the progressive world loses a firm, audacious and experienced leader.

The Vietnamese leader transmitted the condolences of her government and people for the death on November 25 of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, whom she described as a very dear brother combatant.

We Vietnamese carry engraved in our hearts the phrase pronounced by Fidel Castrom who said that for that Asian nation, then assaulted militarily by the United States, Cuba was ready to give her own blood.

In this sacred moment we reaffirm our steady and invariable combatant solidarity to the Cuban communists and the brotherly people of this island, she said when speaking in the political and cultural ceremony in posthumous tribute to the historic leader of the Revolution, held in the Revolution Square Jose Marti.

She also expressed her confidence that the Cuban people will continue boosting the process of construction and consolidation of the socialist society started over half a century ago by the deceased leader and now under the direction of President Raul Castro.

Heads of State and Government, representatives and personalitioes of nations of all latitudes attend the massive ceremony to render posthumous tribute to Fidel Castro.
