Peru's Prime Minister Vicente Zeballos highlighted this Wednesday the possibility of cooperation between his country and Cuba, especially in health, by holding a meeting today with Cuba's ambassador here, Sergio Gonzalez.
This was noted by Zeballos, president of the Council of Ministers, when reporting the visit of the Cuban diplomat to his office, located in a wing of the presidential palace.
'Various issues such as the possibility of bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of public health, were discussed during the encounter,' tweeted the prime minister.
Cooperation in this area has a long history that began with the first medical brigade that arrived in Peru to aid the victims of the great earthquake that devastated much of the territory of that country in May 1970.
Cuba also offered its medical solidarity to Peru during the cholera epidemic that in 1991 left almost 3,000 deaths and after the earthquake that devastated the southern region of Ica and in recent years during the great floods registered in the north of the country.
