São Tomé and Príncipe's Prime Minister Joaquim Rafael Branco, visiting Cuba expressed his country's interest in broadening cooperation relations with Cuba.

The Prime Minister, who arrived in Cuba on Saturday evening, told ACN that his country has maintained relations with Cuba for more than 30 years. He noted that his government had the political will to broaden the scope of the cooperation and that his visit to the island is mostly aimed at identifing new areas of cooperation.

Rafael Branco spoke to this agency after placing a floral wreath at a mausoleum dedicated to Cuban national hero Jose Marti in the presence of Cuba's Higher Education Minister Juan Vela Valdes, in Revolution Square in Havana.

The PM recalled that up to this moment, the two countries have worked together in collaboration projects in the areas of health, education and sports among others.

During his official visit to Cuba, Branco will meet with Cuban government authorities and with leaders of the Cuban Communist Party. He will also visit places of historical, economic and cultural interest.
