The Socialist National Worker’s Front (SWF) of workers and farmers defends the process of change and definitions in Venezuela, informed its leader, Marcela Maspero.

She told Prensa Latina that the SWF Union intends to lead in national labor conflicts.

Part of the front are the workers from the Federacion Electrica Nacional, Federacion Nacional de la Industria Quimica Farmaceutica, the Federacion Regional de Trabajadores from Zulia, Sucre, Trujillo, Amazonas, Barinas, Bolivar, Guarico and Merida and other groups.

She said there have been alliances such as those of Orlando Chirino, coordinator of the National Worker's Union, "an old style unionism that currently is trying to be the savior of workers against President Hugo Chavez, which is wrong."

Recently in Guarana state, Chavez criticized some unions of the public sector and mentioned the case of the Caracas Metro workers.

The president warned that he would not deprive of resources the free social missions that support the government such as Barrio Adentro or Madres del Barrio.

He pointed out that it was wrong for unions to demand benefits for private education when the State offers Bolivarian schools.

In face of the danger that some worker's organizations be caught up by the old unionism the purpose of the SWF is to gather workers and farmers as a class in defense of this process at a time of definitions and stand up and be counted in favor of socialism, the leader added.

Maspero said for this reason "we support the decisions of the President, although we consider the measures weak because we must apply the Law of Food Sovereignty not only to rice but also to oil, milk, cornmeal, the fishing industry and continue with the expropriation of lands."

She criticized the national elite has been using imperialist methods like granting resources to the bourgeois sector such as the banks while ignoring the basic needs of the people for education and health.

The workers are being punished by bourgeois capitalists for supporting the process of transformations because we are a threat to their privileges, the union activist concluded.
