Some 175 books by Cuban authors, such as Nicolas Guillen and Alejo Carpentier, among others, are being exhibited at the Tokyo International Book Fair, with 800 foreign exhibitors from more than 30 countries.
This is the first time the Caribbean island is participating in this book festival in Tokyo, dedicating its participation to the 80th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between both nations.
This book edition, headquartered at Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center, in the locality of Odaiba, counts with books in Spanish and Japanese languages, written by several generations of writers, including, among others, poet and ethnologist Miguel Barnet (Cancion de Rachel), and journalist Luis Baez (Los que se fueron/Los que se quedaron).
Japanese authorities confirmed their presence at the next Cuban International Book Fair 2010, with Russia as guest of honor.
