Chile stands as the Latin American country with the best average population level, while Cuba is a literacy leader and shares a life expectancy of 78.5 years with South Americans.
A report published today by the UN Development Program analyzes life expectancy, education and health levels, and Gross Domestic Product with regards to the purchasing power.
Cuba has consolidated its leading position in education with 99.8 percent literacy rate, only surpassed by Georgia, with 100 percent, according to the report.
The Latin American nations with most outstanding positions in the list of the Human Development Index were Chile (44), Antigua and Barbuda (47), Argentina (49), Uruguay (50), and Cuba (51).
The world leader in the HDI ranking is Norway, while Venezuela, placed 58th, and Brazil (75) made major upturns.
Guatemala (122), Nicaragua (124), and Haiti (149) are the most backward countries.
The first ten are Norway, Australia, Island, Canada, Ireland, Holland, Sweden, France, Switzerland, and Japan.
