Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association Demands Release of Cuban Five
Members of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association sent a letter to US president George W. Bush and to that nation’s Attorney General demanding the release of the five Cubans incarcerated in the United States for fighting against terrorism.

Members of the Gambia-Cuba Friendship Association sent a letter to US president George W. Bush and to that nation’s Attorney General demanding the release of the five Cubans incarcerated in the United States for fighting against terrorism.
The letter, that was made publci Thursday, was delievered to the Cuban Embassy in Banjul by Association Vice-president Buba Senghore. It was also sent to Amnesty International, the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights, and other international organizations.
“The US government, which proclaims itself the champion of human rights and democracy, should listen to the call of international organizations in support of Fernando González, René González, Antonio Guerrero, Ramón Labañino and Gerardo Hernández”, reads the letter, published on the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s website.
The source points out that the text also includes a demand for the “unconditional lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington against the people of Cuba.”
It also demands the cessation of the aggressive policies carried out by successive US administrations against the largest island in the Antilles.
