Argentina''s President Urged to Intercede on Behalf of Cuban Five
The Argentinian Committee for the Release of the Cuban Five requested that President Cristina Fernandez intercede with her U.S. peer Barack Obama to grant a pardon for three Cubans being held prisoner in the United States for having fought terrorism.

The Argentinian Committee for the Release of the Cuban Five requested that President Cristina Fernandez intercede with her U.S. peer Barack Obama to grant a pardon for three Cubans being held prisoner in the United States for having fought terrorism.
The reference by the solidarity and human rights group is to Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, whose fellow Cubans, Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez, have returned to Cuba after completing their prison sentences.
The letter to the head of State states that "no one understands the magnitude of this injustice more than you."
The Cuban Five, as they are known in the international campaigns for their release, were submitted to long and unjust sentences for monitoring terrorist groups settled in the United States with a long history of terrorist activities against the island.
The letter to the President Fernandez recalls that Rene, upon his arrival to Cuba after completing 15-year sentence, said that case was not one of injustice, but a deliberate, calculated and methodical crime.
Rene also warned that those who are incarcerating Gerardo, sentenced to two life terms plus 15 years, intend for him to die in prison, and if he is not released beforehand, he will only return to Cuba as a corpse.
