The regional workshop to increase the gender consciousness through the media continues sessioning in Havana on Tuesday.
University professor Julio Cesar Gonzalez, and the president of Mirta Aguirre Department and director of Mujer (Women) Publishing House, Isabel Moya, will be leading Tuesday activities, which include the introduction of tools to tackle gender violence.
A virtual forum on that topic will also be held on Tuesday afternoon.
The workshop was opened at Jose Marti Journalism Institute on Monday with a magisterial lecture by Doctor Blanca Munster, who is an expert at the World Economy Research Center on the current economic crisis and its regional impact and gender inequality.
The expert noted the discrepancy between the speeches and actions of organizations and governments to confront the problem, which somehow affects the whole world.
Munster highlighted that the crisis chiefly affects women. There are less than 70 women economically active per each 100 men in the world; unemployment is higher for women, situation that worsened in 2007.
She said that several women continue working in the agricultural sector and in family business without any salary. ¿Women have the right to have rights, they should be consulted at the time of designing and discussing social and economic development policies.
The workshop will conclude on Friday and it is attended by experts, academicians, and journalists from 14 countries committed with the human being and social justice.
