Cuba will host the 33rd Pan American Convention of Engineering, UPADI 2012, which will be in session from April 9-13 at the Havana Convention Centre.

Sponsored by the National Union of Construction Architects and Engineers of Cuba (UNAICC) and the Pan American Union of Engineering Associations (UPADI), the convention will make possible the exchange of experiences among professionals of the sector.

Antonio Caparo, president of UNAICC, told the press that nearly 600 delegates representing the Latin American countries are expected to attend.

The Convention includes five symposiums, the same number of forums and two international conferences on environment, earthquake resistant structures, energy and vulnerability to meteorological disasters.

Associated with this important event, the ninth Construction Fair, FECONS 2012, will take place from April 10th to 14th at PABEXPO, an event that provides an opportunity to satisfy the needs for promotion and marketing of products, services and technologies in the area of engineering, according to the notification of the Convention.

Caparo told the press that apart from carrying out the Convention, UNAICC also assumes other challenges for 2012 such as a better implementation of technologies to achieve the optimization of construction processes and a superior quality.

UNAICC will also give priority to works with a higher economic and social impact, in accordance with the guidelines approved at the sixth Congress of Cubans Communist Party, which took place in April 2011, Caparo stated.
