West, Central and Eastern Cuba armies began this weekend the preparation year for the defense, which is based on a military doctrine that combines the participation of the armed forces and the population.
The strengthening of military discipline, staff training and technical maintenance of high combat readiness stand out among the key tasks in the new period of instruction, according to the leaders who led the start of the preparation, cited by the Granma newspaper.
The provinces of Camaguey (east), Matanzas (center) and Artemis (West) hosted activation ceremonies of actions aimed at ensuring the defense, in an international scenario marked by the military aggresiveness of U.S. and its NATO allies.
In the ceremonies, the leaders and senior officers called to create the conditions for the execution of the strategic exercise Bastion 2013 in November.
