The Algerie Presse Service (APS) and Prensa Latina (PL) signed here an agreement to strengthen bilateral cooperation and exchange between two media with more than five decades of existence.
The agreement, signed in the context of the 18th session of the Cuban-Algerian Intergovernmental Commission, allows both press organs mutual access to news, articles, photos, videos and infographics, and editorial use.
It also provides for cooperation in joint projects within the framework of their professional activities, the organization of media information and mutual assistance in the territories where they operate.
Abdelkader Hamidi, responsible for the Cooperation and the Formation of APS, stressed the importance of signing this agreement in the new digital era, which enable a broad exchange of information between Africa and Latin America, two regions that share many common bonds and historical roots.
The Algerie Presse Service was founded in 1961 in Tunisia during the National Liberation War in Algeria, and after achieving independence in 1962, its headquarters moved to the capital.
It currently covers all national information through four regional offices located in Blida, Ouargla, Constantine, and Oran, as well as it has representatives in 12 capitals of Europe, Middle East, Africa, and America.
The agency broadcast in three languages: Arabic, French, and English, and expects to include Spanish language as well.
On the other hand, Prensa Latina was established in 1959, on an initiative by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara. Jorge Ricardo Masett was the first director of PL.
PL, with offices in all continents, broadcasts daily about 400 reports in five languages, and designs more than 30 periodicals, among them Orbe weekly, Negocios en Cuba monthly, as well as Cuba International, Avances Medicos, and Correos de Cuba magazines.
