Cuba''s First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel denied the existence of a debacle in the national sports, given the complexity of the times we are living, he said.
There is no debacle in the Cuban sports, what happens is that we are in other times, in more complex times, and we have to adapt to those times and know how to make things right, Diaz-Canel insisted after welcoming the team that participated in the world judo championship.
His statements are related to strong criticisms due to the poor performance of outstanding disciplines such as athletics, volleyball, and mainly baseball, whose status of the Cuban sports have been put into question.
"I think it shows that regardless of the limitations we have for the development of our sports, for the things that you know that affect the country, when there are athletes like you, with talent and commitment to the Revolution, difficulties are drawn and we win," Diaz-Canel said.
We are fighting against any cracking there is in a world of Olympic values for a group of phenomena existing in sports, he added.
Similarly, Diaz-Canel highlighted the performance of the men's team, led by champion Asley Gonzalez, who also received and rejected an offer of bribery.

According to the Cuban vice president, Cuba's achievements in the World Judo Championship, third for countries with three medals (2-0-1), only surpassed by Japan and France, is a lesson for all Cuban athletes.
