Cuba film history "The Truth About Fidel Castro Revolution" will be screened today for the first time in a room in Athens thanks to the work of the distributor New Star.
An hour-long documentary was filmed in Havana during the first days of 1959, amid the triumphant Cuban Revolution and an exultant people celebrating together the rebel army to the government of Fulgencio Batista.
The Hollywood star Errol Flynn and screenwriter and producer Victor Pahlen, owners of a cinema in Havana at the time, took to the streets without a clear idea and a little budget to shoot some pictures of what would be the beginning of a new era in Cuba.
The sequence of images collected showed the illusion of those viewed in the Revolution the arrival of a more just and equal society, and according to that idea Flynn finished recording a message inviting viewers to visit the country or that freedom, democracy and all that experienced by people of Cuba are one or reality.
However, the tape ran the same fate and disappeared until 2000, when Kira Pahlen discovered between files and materials from his father and released.
The work has been acclaimed directors as Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola, and his Greek premier will be accompanied by documentary or The Cuba of Hemingway or Stephen Crisman, made in 2005 and starring Mariel Hemingway, granddaughter of universal writer linked to the island.
