Cuba Reduces Ozone Damaging Emissions
Cuba met several goals set in 2007 regarding ozone damaging emissions before the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, said Nelson Espinosa, director of the Ozone Office, reported Prensa Latina news agency this Tuesday.

HAVANA,Cuba, Sept 16(acn)Cuba met several goals set in 2007 regarding ozone damaging emissions before the International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer, said Nelson Espinosa, director of the Ozone Office, reported Prensa Latina news agency this Tuesday.
This year the Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment gave special national recognition for being CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) free to new entities that had eliminated emissions that damage the ozone layer, Espinosa told Prensa Latina.
Espinosa spoke about progress in reducing the use of methyl bromide in industry. He said the program to convert domestic and industrial refrigeration equipment continues.
International Day for the Protection of the Ozone Layer was
institutionalized by the United Nations on September 16, 1995.
Cuba joined the protocol in 1992 and the Office on the Ozone was put in
charge of overseeing the process of reducing ozone-depleting substances.
