The Cuban people continue their protest against the US blockade of this country and the interfering nature of President Barack Obama''s Executive, the local media reported today.
From all corners in the island, Cubans ratified this weekend the continuity of the economic, trade and financial blockade of Cuba imposed by Washington more than 50 years ago, and asserted that the stipulations by the US president and the new package of measures implemented a week ago conditioned the process to reestablish relations between the United States and Cuba.
Yesterday, representatives of different sectors of the civil society gathered in several parks in this capital to demand the lifting of the blockade, a mechanism that has caused damage estimated at more than $125 billion USD, according to conservative calculations.
With music and drawings, students and teachers denounced the damage caused by that cruel policy, which has been designed to cause hunger, diseases and desperation to the Cuban population.
Women from the eastern town Imias, affected recently by hurricane Mathew, demanded the end of that genocidal policy and the return of the territory illegally occupied by the naval base in Guantanamo.
They also denounced the attempts by the United States and its allies to degrade the Cuban Government and its leaders, distorting the events related to the actions taken against the recent hurricane, which caused serious disasters in the country's eastern area.
Cuba will present for the 25th time on Wednesday, before the United nations General Assembly, the bill entitled 'Need to Put and End to the Economic, Trade and Financial Blockade of Cuba, imposed by the United States of America.'
