The name of Cuba will go down in history for ever because of what it has done and is still doing for humanity in the fields of education, culture and health in the most difficult period that our species has known.

“Let us go over every discipline, every human and material resource we devote to sports. We must analyze this deeply, apply new ideas, concepts and knowledge. We must distinguish between what is done for the sake of the health of our citizens and what is done for the sake of competing and making this instrument for the wellbeing and health of everyone more accessible”.

“It is not men who make history, it is history that makes men or the great figures and personalities; men interpret events, in one way or another, but they are born from history”.

Without convictions about the value of conscience and its capacity to prevail over instincts, it would not be possible to even speak of a hope for change in any period of the very short history of man.

“The Revolution means: true justice that allows men to acquire knowledge that serves for working for the benefit of others”.

“This revolution was not made by one class; it is an important fact. It was not done by one class, it was done by the youth; at least it was the youth that began the revolution and then the people gradually joined it; and after the youth, it was the peasants, these men who live off the land, away from the cities, because these were the first to come”.

"The Stock Exchanges could not fall lower because they were already on the floor. Today, they were breathing happily thanks to the enormous injections of money artificially inflating them at the expense of the future. However, this absurdity cannot last. Bretton Woods is crumbling. The world will never be the same."
“[…] whenever a man must face a challenge it is a test to him: a test of his character, a test of his will, a test of his courage as a revolutionary and as a man. And the concept of man implies the willingness to face tests and challenges.”
“Today’s society was not the natural form in which human life evolved; it was a creation of already mentally developed man, without which he couldn’t conceive of his own existence. What is being proposed is, therefore, whether the human being will be able to survive the privilege of having a creative intelligence.”
“[...]How great our people are! How invincible a just cause is! How important it is to believe in human beings! How beautiful it is to fight for great ideals! How much light and happiness can emanate from an innocent little boy as a gift to the people who were prepared to die for one of their most beloved sons!”
