Magali Llort Ruiz, the mother of Fernando Gonzalez, stated this week in Mexico that the international struggle for the release of the five Cuban anti-terrorism fighters incarcerated in the United States is growing.
Llort wants the US people to know the injustice committed by the White House since September 12, 1998, against her son and against Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, condemned during a biased trial in Miami to a total of four life sentences and more than 77 years of imprisonment.
She described the actions of the Solidarity-with-Cuba Movement in Mexico as extraordinary, aimed at obtaining the release of these five innocent men, because it's yet another example of the sisterhood that unites the two peoples with a historical and profound friendship, the Prensa Latina news agency reports.
These patriots, Heroes of the Republic of Cuba, monitored the activities of Florida-based mercenary groups, which act with the approval of Washington to plan actions against the archipelago, that have caused thousands of deaths and injuries, as well as huge economic losses.
More and more, the voice of solidarity with The Five is heard in Mexico and other Latin American countries, and also from organizations in the United States and in other parts of the World, said Llort.
I'm happy to be here and have exchanges with friends who support the struggle for the release of Fernando, Rene, Ramon, Antonio and Gerardo, she said after making reference to the meeting of trade union organizations held last weekend in the city of Tijuana, in the state of Baja California.
The event, she commented, gathered participants from US, Mexican, Bolivian, Colombian, and Cuban trade unions, among other nations, which Represent a large amount of workers with a long tradition of struggle.
Participants in the Tijuana meeting approved a declaration that demands the release of the Cuban anti-terrorists and the immediate lifting of Washington's economic, commercial, and financial blockade against Cuba.
