More than 1,000 union leaders from 32 countries are expected to attend the march on May 1st at the Revolution Square in this capital, media outlets reported on Wednesday.

Such participation represents an incalculable international support to the island, faced with the media campaign unleashed from the United States and several European capitals, Granma newspaper reported.

UNISON regional trade union international relation department secretary Phil Thompson confirmed his delegation's participation in the march on Saturday at the Jose Marti Revolution Plaza in Havana.

The Cuban Central Workers' Union exhorted people this week to attend May Day activities as rejection of the harassment from large powers and to support the economic transformations in progress in the nation.

"We will join May Day celebrations on the island's streets and public squares, reaffirming our categorical support to the Revolution, the Cuban Communist Party, Fidel Castro and Raul Castro," said the text.
