The United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) on Wednesday was completing the formation of its Bolivar 2000 Patrols, a political outreach strategy for success in the upcoming National Assembly elections.

According to PSUV national leader Yelista Santaella, about 36,603 "patrol units," one per polling station, should be formed as of today, to be sworn in at a public ceremony with President Hugo Chavez this weekend.

These groups of 30 to 50 PSUV party members each will play a leading role in party's electoral strategy. With just one month to go before the elections, their job is to take the revolutionary message to 17 million voters, dispel apathy, and defeat abstentionism.

In a statement to Prensa Latina, parliamentary deputy Aurora Morales of Miranda, nominated to run for another term in office, said the Bolívar 2000 patrols should guarantee success for the party in the coming elections.

They are responsible for reaching out to the people, to convince them that the proposal for socialist transformation, compared to the well-known practices of the capitalist system, is the solution for Venezuela, Morales said.
