Manuela Espejo Mission Concludes Disabilities Study in Ecuador
After a scientific symposium on the causes, reasons and solutions of the disabilities faced by the Solidarity Mission "Manuela Espejo" in Ecuador, the stage of bio-psycho-clinical and genetic study will conclude formally on Friday.

After a scientific symposium on the causes, reasons and solutions of the disabilities faced by the Solidarity Mission "Manuela Espejo" in Ecuador, the stage of bio-psycho-clinical and genetic study will conclude formally on Friday. 

An official statement confirmed Thursday the presence of the Ecuadorian Vice President Lenin Moreno, in the Palacio de Cristal of Itchimbía Park in Quito, where the final results of the 18-months-study will be announced. 

The Scientific Symposium on disabilities will meet from Thursday at the Convention Center "Eugenio Espejo", where 25 lectures of disability specialists from Cuba, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Bolivia, and the Caribbean will be presented in four halls. 

In addition, the Ecuadorian-Cuban scientist community will present the results of epidemiological characterization of disabilities, identification of research priorities, and determination of the social reality of persons with disabilities in the country. 

Solidarity Mission Manuela Espejo traveled the 221 municipalities of the Costa, Sierra, Amazon and Galapagos, with about 500 members including physicians, geneticists, psychologists, military, community leaders and staff support, from July 2009 to November 2010. 

This Mission burn as part of the program "Ecuador sin Barreras" promoted by the vice presidency since 2007, with the aim of promoting care, prevention and inclusion of persons with disabilities as UN says.
