Cuba and Iran reaffirmed today the excellent state of bilateral relations in a meeting between First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and his Iranian counterpart Ali Salidlo.
In talks held at noon, both officials expressed their willingness to continue strengthening the friendly, cooperation links between the two nations, according to a note released in Havana.
The visiting Iranian official gave Machado Ventura an official invitation addressed to Cuban President Raul Castro to attend the 26th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement, to be held in Tehran on August 30-31.
Saeidlo, who is on a state visit to Cuba, was accompanied by Ambassador to Cuba Ali Chegeny; Director General for North and Central America, Kamiz Jalali; and Director General and Vice Presidential Advisor, Mehrad Saraji.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla also attended the talks.
Saeidlo trip to Havana comes five months after that paid by Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, who met with his host Raul Castro in January as part of a Latin American tour also including Nicaragua, Venezuela and Ecuador.
