The 4th Cuban Civil Society Forum against the over-50-year US economic blockade takes place Friday in Havana to denounce the US’s hostile Cuba policy.
The forum is being attended by 170 economic, religious, student and cultural organizations and other groups, which are part of Cuban civil society, along regional and international organizations based on the island.
The gathering usually takes place prior to the vote by the UN General Assembly of the Cuban Resolution that demands the lifting of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Cuban people. The vote will take place on November 13.
Last year, the forum, which is sponsored by the Cuban UN Association, adopted a final declaration that called on the United Nations to reject the US siege.
Participants said that despite US attempts to make public opinion believe its alleged ease of its hostile policy on Cuba, nothing had really changed, and they described the blockade as an illegal action that violates international law, PL news agency reported.
