The Russian Venceremos social movement has called for all parliaments and governments worldwide to join the international demand to release the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters held in US prisons since 1998.

The letter personally delivered to the US embassy in Moscow by the solidarity group, formed by the Russian Committee for the Five, demands that US President Barack Obama deliver justice for Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, and Rene Gonzalez.

The members of the movement recall that the campaign for the release of The Five, as they are known worldwide, has gathered millions of people calling for peace and justice.

¿We call again on President Barack Obama to use his constitutional power as head of government and pardon the Five,¿ reads the letter sent to the press during the international solidarity day.

The letter's signatories also urged the US president to allow Rene Gonzalez to return to his country now that he has served his sentence, imposed during a rigged trial.

Gonzalez has been forced to remain in the US for another three years under supervised release.

The movement also demands the White House put an end to the more than 50 year-long US economic and financial blockade against Cuba, as well as all actions carried out by anti-Cuban organizations in the US against the Caribbean country.
