Diplomats, bilateral collaboration workers, Cuban residents and Angolan friends in solidarity with Cuba celebrated in this capital the 55th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

"With the revolutionary victory of January 1st, 1959, led by Fidel Castro, the way was paved to serve the promises made in the Attack on the Moncada Barracks and the struggle in Sierra Maestra, stated Minister Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Angola, Juan Socorro Maceda," in an event held at the Cuban Embassy to mark the anniversary.

He said the battle has continued through the years, with Cuba facing attacks, sabotages, bacteriological war, an unfair US economic blockade and other forms of aggression.

However, the revolutionary government started and continues today a socialist development program that has turned Cuba into the country with highest levels of social justice in the Third World, with great achievements in free public health and education at all levels, he noted.

History books and pictures of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, taken by photographer Raul Bozz in different moments in the past 55 years were exhibited in the Embassy during the event.
