It will happen, of course, some day, when in the US the interests of a group of right wing elements in Miami will stop exercising decisive pressure over the behaviour of a power which is currently politically castrated.

Until then, to the 16 consecutive condemnations at the UN General Assembly of Washington’s economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba will be added many other international votes of condemnation.

On October 29th, for the 17th consecutive year, the highest world institution will once again surely censure Washington, whose blockade against Cuba has been in place for over 45 years inflicting losses to the island of over 93 billion dollars, and with the current value of the US dollar this amounts to some 224.6 billion.

The cruel and inhuman blockade has stopped the Cuban people from improving their quality of life and constructing a much more complete and efficient infrastructure.

But that is the exactly the main objective of the blockade; to hammer home the population’s shortages, to worsen the daily life of millions of people, stopping food, medicines, clothes, shoes and many other articles from reaching the population, worsening the situation on housing, transportation, communications; creating chaos and anguish as a weapon to promote ideas and imperialist practices against the revolutionary process, a far cry from the dictates of the White House.

Of course there is some internal responsibility; like foolish mistakes within the country, but none like the multiplied violence and destructive influence of a wall that locks out all possibilities of working in comfort and security.

And you don’t have to go far into it to understand the intentions and reach of the monster created by Washington.

With all the fuss promoted by the White House about the alleged support of the island after the destruction of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike, the blockade is back as an irremovable measure.

The United States is talking about sending insufficient and conditional donations, according to the New York Times. And at the same time insists on rejecting the Cuban request that, far from cheap philanthropy, what the Cuban people need at the moment is the lifting, even as a temporary measure, of the ban on sales of food and construction materials by US companies to the island.

Of course some imperial spokespersons alleged that the White House has already allowed in those essential food supplies. However, the world must know that such purchases were allowed after the tremendous pressure from US agricultural producers, with a great desire of doing business with a close and serious neighbor.

In addition, the US government has done all it can to place obstacles on the Cuban purchases, imposing payments in advance, refusing the use of banks from both nations for transactions, restricting the use of Cuban transport for the merchandise, prohibiting all sales from Havana to Washington and a thousand more tricks to sabotage a much desired and fruitful mutual relationship.

These imperial actions will be once again be denounced by Cuba on the world podium with the certainty that the majority of the international community will once again point its accusing finger at the great offender...as in the end, reason will surely be established.
