Cuba to Help Fight Malaria in West Africa
Cuba and the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) penned a letter of intention in this capital to fight malaria in the 15 member countries of this African organization.

Cuba and the Economic Community Of West African States (ECOWAS) penned a letter of intention in this capital to fight malaria in the 15 member countries of this African organization.
Dr. José Antonio Fraga Castro, director general of the LABIOFAM group, highlighted that the institution has the personnel and the needed resources to reduce the death toll of this disease among children and expectant mothers.
Fraga said that the production capacity is guaranteed with plants located in China, Argentina and Vietnam.
Mohamed Ibn Chambas, president of ECOWAS, expressed his acknowledgement to the Cuban people and especially to Fidel, for his constant preoccupation for the well-being and the health of the people living in less developed nations.
George Sipa-Adjah, Health Minister of the Republic of Ghana, also signed a cooperation contract with LABIOFAM to extend the programs to fight malaria in his country.
According the World Health Organization (WHO) every year some 300 to 500 million people suffer from malaria, and over a million die because of it.
