The Mexican Senate unanimously approved a request for the government to vote at the U.N. on November 13 to oppose the U.S. economic blockade against Cuba, it was reported today.
The text approved by the Senate Assembly states that such a vote is being carried out with concrete measures to ensure the lifting of the blockade.
This agreement reaffirms the traditional solidarity position of that legislative body to the Caribbean nation.
The proposal was presented by Senator Dolores Padierna, of the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), who described as inhuman and immoral that aggression of the U.S. government, over more than 50 years.
This anachronistic, absurd and inefficient policy of the most powerful economic and military power on Earth is an unacceptable affront to the Cuban people and contrary to the international community, she added.
