Yemeni Parliamentary leader Yahya Ali Al-Raee condemned the U.S. blockade on Cuba today, during an interview with Cuba''s ambassador David Paulovich.
The stance is based on the historic friendly relations between Yemen and Cuba, and their common position against U.S. imperialism, stated the legislator during a meeting, held in a friendly atmosphere, a diplomatic source revealed.
Ali Al Raee praised Cuba for its collaboration in training Yemeni professionals, and recalled that some 30 youth from his country are currently studying in the Caribbean country, where nearly 2,000 university students from that Arab country have already graduated.
In that sense, he talked about the care by Cuban physicians who for decades have assisted Yemeni patients "in the most difficult moments," and recalled his presence at a parliamentary forum in Havana in which Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro took the floor.
That was a very interesting and instructive experience, the legislative leader said.
For his part, Ambassador Paulovich spoke of the progress in the international campaign to achieve the release of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly condemned in U.S. jails, for gathering information for Cuba on terrorist plots planned from U.S. soil.
Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Rene Gonzalez, and Fernando Gonzalez were arrested and given long prison sentences during a trial which the UN and international humanitarian organizations have determined was illegal.
Rene and Fernando have returned home after completing their prison sentences, and are working to achieve the release of their three compatriots.
