The Ambassador of Pakistan in Cuba, Naeem Khan, highlighted today the possibilities opened regarding relations between the two countries, after visiting the community of Pakistani medical students in this southern city.
Some 600 new doctors of that nation in South Asia will graduate next February in medical universities in Cienfuegos, 250 kilometers southeast of Havana and Sancti Spiritus (center), confirmed the diplomat.
They, along with the 300 already graduated this summer in Santa Clara (center), will be ambassadors of honor of Cuba in Pakistan, he said.
In fact, this is the only nation in the world that has formed Pakistani professionals as part of a free collaboration and we are thinking about the possibility of bringing more students in the future, said Khan.
He stressed that both countries rely on international forums, there are no points of conflict and a friendship climate to develop bilateral relations prevails.
Cuba now enjoys a very positive image in Pakistan. We have been voting for years in the United States in favor of the resolution by the cessation of (economic, commercial and financial) blockade imposed by the US administration to the island and that makes ordinary people become interested in the Cuban issue, said the ambassador.
When asked about mutual understanding, he regretted that most of the news, from both sides, first passes through the filter of the media transnational.
In that sense he praised the agreement signed by the Cuban news agency Prensa Latina and the Pakistani newspaper Daily Times for the exchange of information, as an example of what can be accomplished within the South-South collaboration.
He announced the existence of a draft, already approved by the Cuban side, to implement a similar agreement between the Prensa Latina News Agency and PPA agency in his country.
Khan accompanied the prominent Pakistani journalist Murtaza Solangi, who held meetings with students of their country and with colleagues in the press in Cienfuegos.
