A group of 34 Cuban water experts are today in South Africa in compliance with a bilateral agreement between the two countries on cooperation in the fields of hydraulic resources.
Those professionals will work in Pretoria, as well as in rural areas of the nation where there is a shortage of skills, Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane, said after receiving them.
Civil, electrical, water and mechanic engineers, as well as experts in irrigation and drainage, were contracted to work in South Africa for two years, as the agreement signed last year establishes.
Mokonyane recalled the passion by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro and Argentinean- Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Che Guevara, in his determination "for liberating our peoples."
Mokonyane stated that this is part of the development and strengthening of relations between South Africa and Cuba.
