Qatari Emir, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Thani, has reaffirmed today the willingness to strengthen and expand cooperation relations with Cuba, after welcoming here Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
Al-Thani talked with the Cuban foreign minister, who arrived in Doha last night, for a hearing at the Amiri Diwan attended by Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and the island's ambassador to Doha, Eumelio Caballero.
Caballero told Prensa Latina that the official talks held by Rodriguez, not only with the Emir but also the bilateral meeting with his peer, have been focused on the interest of exploring new ways of strengthening bilateral collaboration, already strengthened in the health sector.
Shortly before traveling to Beirut for an official visit to Lebanon, Al-Thani has honored his Cuban peer with a lunch of welcome. During the official visit, Rodriguez is scheduled to meet with other Qatari authorities to review the level of ties between Havana and Doha.
Rodriguez will conclude his stay here on Friday, November 25th, after visiting cultural, social, scientific and economic places and projects, and meeting with his country's Medical Brigade working for years at the Cuban Hospital in Dukhan, officially opened in January 2012 in northwest Qatar.
The trip by the Cuban foreign minister is inserted in a tour of the Middle East started yesterday and will be extended until November 28th, when an official visit to the United Arab Emirates should conclude it.
