“The Revolution opened the way to justice; the Revolution opened the way to the truth; the Revolution opened the way to the future. This is the path that our people are proudly, joyfully and firmly following today…”

Because this Revolution, this Revolution, is a Revolution of the people. And these revolutionary ideas are the revolutionary ideas of the people. And this revolutionary achievement is the implementation, with the opinion of our people, of ideas universal to our very special and concrete case.

“The Revolution had to win, first and foremost, the workers’ consciousness, and these were won for the Revolution just as long as the Revolution became, more and more, the Revolution of the workers; just as long as the Revolution deepened and as long as the class struggle broke out with all its might.”

"Tenemos que revolucionar nuestros hábitos, tenemos que ser permanentemente revolucionarios y tenemos que ser revolucionarios dentro de la Revolución; tenemos que superarnos en todo constantemente."

“Humanity needs these kinds of answers. Humanity is growing, humanity is multiplying. What isn’t growing, however, is the earth’s surface. Humanity shall have to do  everything in its power to increase its productivity per unit of surface, make as much of the earth or its surface productive, avail itself of all natural resources, all of science’s resources, for only those who are not revolutionaries, those who haven’t the slightest notion of the potential of humanity’s intelligence and willpower, can conceive of a world in which humanity starves”.

“He left us his revolutionary thinking, he left us his revolutionary virtues, he left us his character, his will, his tenacity, his spirit of work.  In a word, he left us his example! Che’s example must be a model for our people, Che’s example must be the ideal model for our people!”

“We know that nothing will crush the Revolution, but we also know that every new effort makes us stronger, makes our Revolution stronger, makes our Revolution safer and makes our Revolution freer; it also strengthens our people as the master of their destiny…!”

“Nobody can say to be the holder of absolute truth; amid the enormous complexity of the world today no one can declare to be the holder of absolute truth. We have our truths here that stem from our experience and apply to our conditions; and we have made our own deductions and conclusions but we have never claimed to be professors, we have never claimed to have the monopoly of revolutionary truths.”

“The imperialists know that there is no development without revolution, and they feel powerless against the reality of a world that is growing and developing, and a population that is increasing as is the revolutionary awareness as a natural and inevitable phenomenon.”

“One day, when the revolution is triumphant in all the rest of the countries of Latin America, we shall unite with the other peoples and we shall form a community of Latin American peoples.  We need the revolution for that; we need socialism for that.”

“Vietnam is a most cherished name too close to the hearts of all Cubans. To all of us Vietnam has been an example to follow and an incentive in our struggle.  The Cuban people is very much aware of the extraordinary role played by the people of Vietnam within the world’s revolutionary movement and in people’s liberation struggles.  Vietnam has taught an unforgettable lesson to all the exploited and oppressed peoples.  No liberation movement, none of the peoples that have struggled for their independence have had to wage a struggle as prolonged and heroic as that waged by the people of Vietnam.”

“Julio Antonio Mella, one day you said that even after we are dead we are useful, because we serve as a standard.  And so it has been!  You were always the standard for our workers and youth in their revolutionary struggles, and today you are the inspirational standard, exemplary, victorious and invincible, of the Socialist Revolution of Cuba!”
