Cuba and China Draw up Bilateral Economic Agenda

Cuba and China are currently advancing the drawing-up of a mid-term economic agenda, said in Beijing Cuba’s first deputy Foreign Trade and Investment minister Orlando Hernandez, who took part at a recent China-Latin America Business Summit.
In statements to PL news agency, the Cuban government official said that the agenda is based on an accord signed during the visit to Havana by Chinese vice-president Xi Jinping last June 2011, and which was ratified by that year by the Cuba-China Intergovernmental Commission.
Hernandez said that the document has been the subject of exchange by delegations from both countries and it is being given the finishing touches for its signing by the two governments.
The agenda will serve as a guide for companies and entities involved in boosting commercial relations between the two nations.
The Cuban deputy minister said that his visit to China started with his participation at the 6th China-Latin America and Caribbean Business Summit, held October 17 and 18 in Hangzhou, city capital of the western province of Zhejiang.
The meeting was attended by important Chinese authorities and representatives of Latin American governments, the executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean Alicia Barcena, and a large number of Chinese and Latin American entrepreneurs.
Participants at the Hanzhou summit addressed the problems and advancement of relations between China and Latin America, and ways to deepen such links, based on guaranteed sustainability.
The delegation headed by the Cuban deputy minister also held a meeting with high-level representatives of China’s Trade Ministry, the Chinese Agency for Investment Promotion and financial institutions.
