Italian Activists Ride Bikes in Cuba Pro Cuban 5
A group of five Italian activists, members of the solidarity movement with Cuba, are riding their bikes today to the eastern city of Holguin as part of the international campaign for the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States.

A group of five Italian activists, members of the solidarity movement with Cuba, are riding their bikes today to the eastern city of Holguin as part of the international campaign for the release of five Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in the United States.
Belonging to the Alta Maremma Internationalist Solidarity Center, in Tuscany, the recreational cyclists are performing this action to spread the case of Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero and Rene Gonzalez, sentenced to harsh prison sentences in June 2001 following a biased trial in the southern U.S. city of Miami.
Maurizio Cerboneschai met with the press here and explained that he is leading the initiative, and the destination is the city of Holguin, venue of the 8th International Colloquium for the Cuban Five and against Terrorism, a forum to be held from November 28 to December 1.
The Italian sports group from the midwestern Italian town of Piombino is also engaged in bike tours throughout the country, to reveal the contradictory sanctions imposed against the Cuban Five for gathering information to prevent terrorist acts against the island by anti-Cuban organizations based in Florida.
Detained in September 1998, the sentences imposed against the Five almost three years later in a place and political environment lacking neutrality, range from 15 years to two life sentences plus 15 years.
