Dominican Intellectuals Meet with Cuban High Ranking Officials
Dominican intellectuals and journalists met with Cuban officials Abel Prieto (advisor of Cuban President Raul Castro) and Abel Gonzalez (Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture).

Dominican intellectuals and journalists met with Cuban officials Abel Prieto (advisor of Cuban President Raul Castro) and Abel Gonzalez (Cuban Deputy Minister of Culture).
At the residence of Cuban Ambassador Alexis Bandrich here, the parties reviewed the development of cultural policies in Cuba and how they can be an example to other nations.
In what has been described as a rich exchange of views, they also discussed Cuba's updating of its economic and social model.
Prieto referred to the migratory policy implemented since the triumph of the Revolution on Jan. 1st, 1959, and the coming into force of new immigration regulations early this year with the objective, he said, not to considering the émigré as an enemy of the Revolution, but letting everyone to live his/her experience abroad and draw his/her own conclusions about it.
The need to strengthen Bolivarian union and the legacy of late Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez was also highlighted.
Prieto and Gonzalez were invited by Dominican Minister of Culture, Jose Antonio Rodriguez, to attend the 16th International Book Fair of Santo Domingo, running Apr.22-May 5.
